I knowwww … it’s still 2023. It’s only December and we still have a few full weeks of this year left. Literally, anything could happen in those two months.
So, why am I already thinking about 2024? Because, if you’re a small business owner, you should already be thinking about next year! If you haven’t already started, today is a great day to sit down and figure this out.

What do you want 2024 to look like?
What goals do you have for yourself and your business?
How do these goals measure up to your actual 2023 numbers?
Your 2023 numbers will reveal a lot about your business, specifically what in your product line-up is doing well and what isn’t helping you move towards your income goals. Figure out which products you want to push harder in your first quarter and which ones are going to take a backseat. Pivoting and rearranging your product suite can have a huge impact on whether or not you reach your income goals.
What continuing education courses do you want to take?
Even if your industry doesn’t require you to submit CEUs for your license, as a business owner, you should always be learning and evolving. Figure out which aspects of your business you are most interested in improving, and then find out which upcoming courses can help you with that.What sort of networking do you want to improve?
Networking can make or break your business and it’s time to figure out what is working and what isn’t. Is there a group or event that you dedicate time to that just doesn’t provide a high ROI? Or maybe there is a group you’ve been eyeing for a while that you just need to jump into? Whatever it is, now is the time to figure out which ones to join and which ones to ditch.What does your online presence look like?
How’s your website? Is it updated? Does the copy flow? How about your social media presence? Are you on the right sites and platforms?
Now is the perfect time to take a look at this. Make sure your online presence matches your real-life personality. Businesses and consumers are moving towards the digital space now more than ever so it’s important that you put the energy and effort into this aspect of your business. While you should be asking for feedback from your clients and customers at the end of every sale or project, the end of the year is a great time to circle back and ask for feedback from anyone you’ve done work for or supplied a product to this year.
